Pont Aven, the picturesque village in south Brittany betweeen Concarneau and Lorient is within easy reach of the beaches of Kerfany les Pins, Trevignon and Cabellou amongst many others
In a wooded creek at the mouth of the river Aven, where the waters flow down from the Black Mountains, Pont Aven was originally known as the town with thirteen houses and twelve water mills.
In the 1880's Gaugin based himself in Pont Aven to this day it still attracts painters.
Nowadays Pont Aven has many picture galleries and craft shops. It is the centre of craft Breton biscuit making and the "gallette" capital. In the season it bustles with visitors. These photos were taken in November!!
